Winter tyres from October to Easter
Below 7 °C, winter tyres offer noticeably better grip. Fit summer tyres by the end of March / early April at the latest, once there's no more risk of frost.

Experts recommend at least 3 mm for summer tyres and 4 mm for winter tyres. If your tread is worn down, it's time for new tyres.
